80% of young women voted Remain!

80% of young women voted Remain.

In this centenary year of women’s suffrage we owe it to women to respect their vote and stop Brexit.

80% of women aged 18 to 24 voted to Remain.(1) That could not be clearer or less ambiguous – young women want this country to remain in the EU. 54% of women in the 25 to 49 age range also voted to keep their country in the EU. As with men, women were let down by the older generations for whom the referendum was a largely meaningless exercise in self-indulgence.

In this centenary year of celebrating women’s great step forward in achieving the right to vote, and contemplate how much more there is still to do before we can really talk about equality for women, let’s not take away from women the very future they clearly want and deserve.

If, like me, you are in the upper age groups, just remember that you have no right to take away the future that 80% of young women want, when you will be no part of that future.
